La Mirada Birth Photographer & Doula

Life is full of many adventures and the journey of motherhood is a grand adventure that comes with many highs and lows, tears of joy and tears of sorrow, feelings of insignificance and feelings of gratitude.

“… for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” - Nehemiah 8:10

  • “Alaina is INCREDIBLY talented and brings her deeply calming, grounding presence to any birth space. Her photos and video helped me remember and process my birth story, which didn’t go as planned (does it ever?! ) so I was worried the photos wouldn’t be amazing. THEY WERE!”

    -Kassidy C.

  • “Thank you again for being such a wonderful support to us! The past few days are a blur, but I am so thankful we’ll have some pictures for me to recount it all. You brought such a sweet and calm presence to a very difficult but incredibly special event.”

    -Stacie B.

  • “We thank God you got to be part of it and were there to support us. I will always remember & cherish you praying over us during a difficult stage of laboring. “

    -Julie A.

  • “Thank you again and again for your gentle presence. You truly made a world of difference, I can’t even put it into words. I look forward to telling my pregnant mama friends about you!!!”

    -Liz F.

  • “As a doula, she was so kind and caring. She has a very calm personality which is so helpful for birthing! Alaina is very knowledgeable and kind. She frequently reached out via text to see how I was doing throughout the pregnancy. She was so easy to open up to with any worries or fears. Alaina is very comforting before, during, and after the birth. It’s like having a close friend walk with you through the process. It was also great to debrief about the birthing experience. Throughout she never was pushy about anything but listed out pros and cons of everything I was trying to decide for the birth and after.”

    -Laura M

  • “Alaina is amazing! The prenatal sessions in our home served to create a time and space for connection and reflection on our intentions for this pregnancy and birth. The moment my contractions began to get closer together, she situated herself near our home - she was so respectful of our space and wanted to make sure she was available but not imposing before we were ready. She moved with us to the birthing center and was with us for the entirety of our 35 hour labor! She was a calming and helpful presence and somehow managed to get incredible photos and footage too... the photos and birth video exceeded my expectations - I will cherish these memories forever! Thank you Alaina!”

What it means to be your doula…

I see myself as a coach and educator.

I am in your corner cheering you on.

I can’t do it for you, but I can give you and your primary support person the tools in your toolbelt to acheive the goals that you are dedicated to.

Birth plans can change because they are made with our ideals and goals in mind, but the outcome should be one that you have peace with knowing that YOU were in charge of the decisions that were made and the Lord had His hand on you and your baby through the process.

To me, that is what an empowered birth experience is. Not so much of the exit route of your baby on their birth day, but one where you said “yes” and allowed your body to surrender to the process of birth.

The Celebration of a new little life…

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you."  Psalm 139:13-18
