Featured Story – Amelia’s {Home} Birth Story

I love documenting the birth day of the a precious babe. It’s always surrounded by so much love.
I received a text in the early morning that labor had begun, but by mid morning the contractions became inconsistent and actually grew further apart. I kept my phone on me because you never know when they will start back up with purpose, and at 3pm the call came in from Tammi’s husband Kurt that her contractions were 5 minutes apart but the last were 3 minutes apart.

Tammi was planning on using a birthing tub but when I got there she had changed her mind about being in the water.

A bit of time passed and she went with the suggestion of sitting in their Jacuzzi for some pain relief. It was such a relief she decided that it would be the best place to stay and welcome their sweet baby girl.

Tammi’s mom was thrilled that she was able to watch her strong daughter birth her granddaughter. She had missed the birth of their first daughter as Tammi went into labor early and she couldn’t catch a flight fast enough from the east coast.

Lindsey and the midwife team at OC Midwifery are wonderful and Cathy of Doula by the Sea was such a great support for Tammi and Kurt. I can’t say enough great things about all of them!

Tammi is amazing! Even right up until she birthed sweet Millie she was still smiling.

You have to watch the slideshow to see the look on big sister’s face when she meets her new baby sister!

Tammi and Kurt, thank you and I pray for many blessings for your family!
